David Artell says his Crewe Alexandra players deserve all the credit for masterminding a superb 2-1 away win at Mansfield at the weekend. The result moved Crewe up to 12th in the league table and in the process knocked the Stags out of one of the automatic promotion places.
Two goals from substitute Callum Ainley made it back-to-back wins for the Alex and we host Cheltenham Town at the weekend.
After the 2-1 win at the One Call Stadium, the Alex boss said: “The players deserve the credit for the result. They did everything we asked of them.
“We told them that if they could stay in the game and get to 60 minutes plus then we had a great chance of going on to win the game. We watched them against Lincoln and it was a tough game for them. Lincoln had the last half an hour but Mansfield were able to hang in there.
“We felt the longer the game went on the more it would open up and we would have chances. That is how it panned out and the subs came on and gave us some real energy as well. They were all terrific and we deserved to win the game.”
