No Qualms About Playing Will And Bill

31 July 2019

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he will have no qualms about playing youngsters Will Jaasekelainen and Billy Sass-Davies against promotion favourites Plymouth this weekend. Both made their league debuts in the 2-0 home win over Yeovil Town back in April and performed admirably in the last few matches when selected.

Jaasekelainen has been battling it out with Dave Richards for the number one spot, while Sass-Davies’ chances of another start have only been enhanced by the pre-season injuries to Olly Lancashire and Nicky Hunt.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “For Will and Billy to play games towards the end of the season would have only have helped them.

“There was still plenty riding on the games. When they made their league debuts against Yeovil we could still have got into their play-offs, so they were not dead rubbers by any means.

“They did well and they deserved a chance. In some ways it has got those debut nerves out of the way and now they are just another game to them.

“I’m sure they would both handle it on Saturday if they were to play. That is the decision I have to make with all of them.”
