Artell: "More To Come From Us In The Final Third"

23 July 2019

David Artell was relatively pleased with the way his Crewe Alexandra side performed against Premier League opposition on Saturday but he is still looking for more improvement in the final third of the pitch.

Crewe deservedly defeated a Burnley XI 1-0 thanks to a well taken finish from Charlie Kirk and Artel believes that his team got into some more promising positions to have created more chances on Nick Pope’s goal.

The Alex boss told the club’s official website:  “I picked out some clips and moments on the video and we have gone through them as a team. We have looked at the things we did well and the things we didn’t do as well.

“There are couple of areas where we can improve. We can improve in the final third and be more careful with the final pass or cross into the box. We got ourselves into some great positions against Burnley and didn’t take advantage of that.

“It takes a bit of time because Daniel (Powell) is new to us and we are getting used to how he likes to play and the runs he likes to make. I think he worked well with the others and combined well but I know there is more to come from all of them.

“It is about us getting into those positions and making the most of them but I am sure that Daniel, Charlie and Ports will all score goals for us.”
