Bury Mirror Lowe The Player

1 January 2019

David Artell says that today’s opponents Bury reflect their manager Ryan Lowe as a player.

Artell knows Lowe better than most having shared a dressing room in their playing days at Crewe and at Shrewsbury Town.

It was Artell who allowed Lowe to return to his beloved Bury as a player back in January 2017 before he was offered a coaching role and then the permanent manager’s role in January 2018.

Ahead of today’s fixture, Artell told the club’s official website: “Bury in many ways reflect Ryan as a player. They have guile, know-how, creative ability and quality.

“They are a very good team and they are one of the best sides to have come to Gresty Road this season. We didn’t play well and we were fortunate to get a point.

“It should be a right good game and if we play like we have been doing of late then there is no reason why we cannot get the three points.

“It will be a good test and we have to make sure that we remain unbeaten and carry on our little run. If we can win or not get beaten then we go on to Morecambe and are then back at home again and could really be up-and-running. The players have to believe that and do their best to do it.”
