Artell: "We Played Well And We Know Mistakes Cost Us"

11 February 2019

After re-evaluating Saturday’s 3-3 draw with near neighbours Macclesfield Town, Crewe boss David Artell was pleased with our overall performance but understandably disappointed by the mistakes we made.

Crewe led three times at Moss Rose but only collected a point for their efforts after three mistakes let the Silkmen back into the game.

After reviewing the DVD of the game, the Alex boss told us: “After watching it back, I thought we were good. We played well and should have won the game. I thought we were far the better team and when you score three goals away from home that should be enough to win the game. We have made three mistakes that have cost us.

“We shot ourselves in the foot and in truth that hasn’t really been us for a while. We haven’t done that a lot this season and it hurts.

“It hurts but that goes to show how far we have come that we are disappointed with a point away from home. We would snapped your hand off for that in November.

“There were negatives because of the mistakes we have made but also positives. It is another point on the board and it is only that one loss in eight.

He added: “We have to make sure that that unbeaten run keeps going.”
