David Artell says he is a ‘delighted manager’ following a quiet deadline day of activity. The Crewe Alexandra boss was pleased that none of his main assets left the football club in the January window and he has added two full-backs to his ranks.
The Crewe boss admitted that there had been tentative contact about some of his players, but nothing concrete came in and that suited Artell down to the ground.
David told the club’s official website: “I am glad the window is shut if I am honest. You can look at it two ways. We have managed to get two players in that have been an improvement on the start of January and we have managed to keep hold of our players.
“I am delighted with that. We went for others and there were possibilities but that didn’t quite happen. That happens and it can all be a bit panicky on deadline line.
“I am delighted to have kept our own. We have players in the team doing well. We have players not in the team who are doing okay and we have players not in the team who need to be doing better.”
