Boss On Jaaskelainen's Excellent Temperament

3 December 2019

Artell on his Finnish Under-21 stopper

David Artell has praised the temperament of his number one goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen after the Finland Under-21 International made some telling saves to contribute to us earning an FA Cup replay against Eastleigh.

The Alex defence were under severe pressure in the closing 20 plus minutes of the first round tie with Jaaskelainen denying the likes of Michael Green, Jack Payne and Tyrone Barnett before substitute Marcus Barnes forced home an equaliser with four minutes left.

The replay will be taking place at Gresty Road on Tuesday 10th December.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Will is a good goalkeeper. His temperament is excellent and he does what is expected of him.

“We have two good goalkeepers and Trig (Dave Richards) has been a bit unlucky. His temperament has come on leaps and bounds as well and I would have no qualms about playing him either. Whoever plays we have a good one.

“You are better off asking Fred (Barber) about Will’s potential. I do know that at the same age, Fred says that Will is ahead of his dad and Jussi didn’t do half bad did he?”
