Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says there is always an air of optimism and excitement when a new season comes around.
The Alex kick off their League Two campaign with a home game against Plymouth Argyle.
Artell told the club’s official website: “There is always great optimism and excitement when the season comes around and it doesn’t matter which team you support.
“You hope that all the work you have done over the last six weeks is reflected in the performance but the season is not just about tomorrow. It is the first game of 46 league games and hopefully 50 plus games over the season.
“There is always a freak result on the opening day. We scored six against Morecambe last season and it was a great start but that is it all it was. It was three points closer to our objective and overall we didn’t quite make it.
“The objective is always to win every game and tomorrow against Plymouth will be no different. The first game is no greater than the 5th game, 10th game or 25th game.”
