David Artell has described a re-run of our performance at Vale Park as ‘a video nasty’.

The Alex boss and his staff went through the DVD of our 1-0 defeat with the players and he says that lessons have to be taken on board to make sure those type of performances do not occur too often.

Artell told crewealex.net: “We went through the entire video again and it wasn’t pleasant viewing. It wasn’t pleasant viewing at the time either.

“It only confirmed what we thought. We were not very good and that is putting it politely. We got exactly what we deserved. It was one of our worst performances of the season because we just whacked it.

“It is enough to make you tear your own hair out and it certainly makes you go greyer quicker because we are much better than what we showed on Saturday.

“We have had a day of reflection on the performance and see why things happened like they did. You have to learn from what happened because we won’t win many games playing like that. We cannot play that way and if we whack it then we cannot really help them because we don’t want to play that way.”
