Green:"Important To Keep Ticking Over Throughout The Summer"

29 May 2018

Paul Green believes that David Artell is creating a good mixture of youth and experience in the Crewe Alexandra Squad. Green, 35, did not take too long to turn his successful loan spell into a permanent transfer this summer and the former Republic of Ireland International believes that if we can continue to build momentum then we could ‘do something special’ next season.

Green, who made 20 appearances for the club, during his loan move from Oldham Athletic has signed a one-year deal with scope for a further year depending on his appearance record.

Green told iFollow the Alex: “I spoke when I was on loan that there was a god blend of youth and experience in the squad. There are a number of senior lads and then the lads that have come through the Academy. You need that and hopefully players like myself can help them on.

“The manager has got a good mixture together and I think all the younger lads signing their contract gave everyone a boost. It is good to see that we have kept the nucleus of the squad together.

“Having those lads sign and seeing Shaun (Miller) sign as well is a big bonus for all of us and I think we can do something special next season.

“I was glad to get my future sorted out quickly. It was done and dusted quickly and I will continue to tick over during the summer. I feel good and the body feels good. I will do my work to make sure I am ready for when we come back at the end of June. The days of having six weeks off are over.

“I will get my break in as well. I think it is important to do that as well and put your feet up for two weeks and have a break from it.”
