Artell: "We Are Showing That We Are Heading In The Right Direction"

Crewe Alexandra manager was pleased that his side continued their recent good form with a well- deserved three points at Crawley. Goals from Perry Ng and Harry Pickering saw Crewe record back-to-back wins after our 1-0 win at Morecambe last week.

Following the 2-1 at the Checkatrade Stadium, David told the club’s official website: “It was another professional performance from us. We didn’t play too well last week but won and we have played better today and won. It wasn’t vintage Crewe but it was better and was an acceptable level of performance. Last week it wasn’t.

“Our decision making was better, we didn’t turn the ball over as much and we looked a lot more threatening going forward. There is still plenty to work on but we don’t want the season to end at the moment because we are coming into some good form.

“There is more to come from us but we have shown that we are a good team and squad and now we have to make sure we take that into the last game and then into next season.

“These games, with nothing really on it can turn into drab, dull affairs, but credit to both teams, we both tried to win the game. We were just good enough to have won it.

“They were two very good finishes. Perry was like a striker. He didn’t snatch at it and instead had a snap shot that gave the goalkeeper no chance. I thought he was the best player on the pitch. He was calm and composed all game.

“Eddie was rested because we wanted to try Perry and George again and have a look at that. Perry has the makings of a good centre-half and that is where we see him long-term. There is more to come from him but he is a top prospect.

“Pixie has been with us since the age of 9 and we shouldn’t be surprised that he has scored with his right foot. It was a fantastic finish into the top corner and he has been terrific for us.

He added: “We have one game to go, at home in front of our fans and we want to win it and show that we are heading in the right direction. We are going along nicely.”
