Ng: "Intensity Has To Continue"

12 September 2017

Perry Ng is confident that Crewe Alexandra can build on Saturday’s emphatic 5-1 win over Chesterfield with another positive result against Cambridge United this evening.

The defender struck his first senior goal in what proved to be a comfortable afternoon for the Railwaymen, but Ng says that that level of intensity has to continue. The U’s will be aiming to bounce back from a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Barnet at the weekend.

Ng told iFollow The Alex: “It was a great performance from the lads on Saturday and a great three points. We took the intensity we had built up from training in the week into the game and it is important we do that again.

“The early goal from Porter settled us down and we played our football. We performed really well and passed the ball.

“It wasn’t very good at Grimsby last week but we put that right. It was important we didn’t have two bad performances back-to-back. It was a good way to get back to winning.”

On his first senior goal, the Liverpool-born Ng said: “I’ve only ever scored one previously and that was for Hyde in the Conference North, so it was nice to get one in the league.

“I saw Dags to my right and I thought about sliding him in, but the lad has come across and sold himself a bit, so I’ve stepped across him and it was great to see it go in, left peg as well.

“The gaffer and Kenny (Lunt) have been on to me about getting in the box more and working on my left foot, so it was nice to see that work pay off.

He added: “I didn’t really know what to do when I scored. I had something rehearsed with Zooms but that went right out of the window! I was too hypo but it was great to get my first goal.”
