David Artell firmly believes that if his Crewe Alexandra side can play to their potential then there is no reason why they cannot cause an FA Cup upset against Rotherham United.
Crewe host the League One this weekend in the first round of the competition and Artell hopes that the club can finally have a sustained cup run after exiting the League Cup and the Checkatrade Trophy already this season.
David told crewealex.net: “The FA Cup is a one off game and anything can happen on the day. I have played at Anfield when I was at Rotherham, beat Everton and then played Chelsea when I was at Shrewsbury. They were great days for us as players, the fans and the club.
“It is about time we had a cup run here. I remember when I was a player here and we went out at Tamworth. Horrific. We played on a poor pitch tried to play too much football and got beat. It all depends on the day.
“I know that if we play to our level then we can beat anyone. If we can play like we did against Notts County or against Stevenage or against Newport with ten men or with the same intensity we did against Mansfield on the opening day then I would back us.
“We know they are capable of it and if they can do it then there is no reason why we cannot cause an upset.”
