Jon Guthrie has four weeks to decide his future as Artell begins to shape squad.
David Artell has announced to the club’s official web-site that the soon-to-be-out-of-contract Jon Guthrie will be treated no different to the other players who have been offered a new contract. The manager has submitted written offers to a number of his first team squad and given them a month to decide whether they wish to commit to the club.
Artell says that Guthrie has been treated exactly the same way and he expects an answer towards the end of the month.
David told crewealex.net: “Jon has received a written offer and he will be treated exactly the same as the others. He has had an offer on the table from October and we improved it when I took over, so he has had ample time to sign it as far as I am concerned.
“We’ll have to wait and see. I have gone on record many times to say that I would love him to stay. He knows that but if he doesn’t sign then we move on. We will have to go out and get better and that is what we will do.
“I don’t know what Jon wants to do. That remains the 64,000 dollar question but he has some more time to decide and we’ll see what happens then.”
