Artell On Cooke

10 May 2017

Dave Artell says he would love to get Cooke back on loan.

The Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that he would love to welcome Callum Cooke back on loan next season, but he believes the chances of the England Youth International enjoying another stint back at Gresty Road remains slim following Middlesbrough’s relegation from the FA Premier League.

Cooke, who scored four goals in 18 appearances during a successful loan spell in South Cheshire, is expected to return to the Riverside and fight for a place in the first-team squad at Boro over the summer.

Artell admits he has already made contact with Boro: “I've spoken to Thiago Cruise at Middlesbrough and asked about their plans for Callum. He was terrific for us, hopefully we get to see more of him but I think it's a bit of a long shot.

He added: “I'll speak to Thiago again later in the summer and see how it stands, I've already pitched my case to him.”
