Artell Praise For Morris' Fringe Players

10 March 2017

Alex boss delighted with two wins and Cup Final booked.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has praised the club’s fringe contingent and his first team coach Alex Morris after they won two games in a week and booked their place in the Cheshire Senior Cup Final with an emphatic 4-0 win over Hyde United on Tuesday. The previous afternoon, the majority of that team also defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Reaseheath thanks to Perry Ng's spectacular goal.

Artell told the club’s official web-site: “The lads who played Monday and Tuesday have been terrific for us. They won both games and reached the Cheshire Senior Cup Final as well. Alex Morris has been terrific with them and their development is a big part of the club.

“Those who are not in the team have to keep pressing their claim. They have to put the pressure on those ahead of them because if the ones that are in possession of the shirt don’t perform then I need to know that there ones to come in. I think there is and the best way to show that is by playing well and developing that winning habit.

He added: “Everyone is heading in the same direction and they came through the test very well. They came through physically with flying colours. It was two great results for the club.”
