Garratt: "We Need Be More Consistent"

2 June 2017

Ben Garratt is hoping the club can put a frustrating season firmly behind them and produce a genuine push for promotion. The Alex number one admits that the Crewe Alexandra team were too inconsistent last season and he is striving for us to be more defensively sound next term.

Garratt was an ever present in goal last season and he certainly played his part in helping us avoid a relegation scrap with some crucial saves at important times.

Garratt, 23, will make his 150th league appearance if he starts the opening day of the season and he is hoping that Crewe make a better start in EFL League Two.

Ben told the club’s official web-site: “It was an up and down season last time around and we were too inconsistent. We had the change of manager and in the end, we managed to pull away from danger.

“We will aiming far higher next season because it was frustrating last season. We had some good results but couldn’t get on a run and our inconsistency was the main problem.

“We have had a year in League Two and the younger players will be better for that. We know what the league is about now and after a rest, we will be ready to go again.

“If we can get a solid base at the back, then we will always be dangerous going forward.”
