Boss: "I Will Be As Pro-Active As Possible"

31 January 2017

Artell says he will work right up until deadline to secure new face.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he and his backroom staff will be as pro-active as possible as we head towards this evening’s deadline. Artell is determined to bring in a fresh face to add to his squad for the last few months of the season, but the club’s former promotion winning skipper is adamant that the right person has to fit into the dressing room dynamics.

Artell has already allowed Ryan Lowe to return to Bury in a playing/coaching role and replace him with Jordan Bowery, on loan from Leyton Orient. Danny Hollands has also extended his stay until the end of the season.

Artell told crewealex.net: “You have to be as pro-active as possible and we will be. I will be on the phone and Bake will be on his. We will be speaking to people in the game, agents and hopefully then their players.

“The lads in the dressing rooms come first though and we will prepare as normal. The phone is on and it will be on when we are travelling down to Exeter later this afternoon. I will be as pro-active as I can be before the window closes at 11pm. You have to be, that is what needed and although any business is challenging, we will be working hard to get something done.”
