Artell: "Time To Pull In The Right Direction"

11 January 2017

Alex boss says he will be like a human magpie to help turn things around.

David Artell has told the club’s official web-site that he will act as a ‘magpie’ as he prepares for his first job in football management. Artell is preparing for his first game in charge of Crewe against Luton Town at the weekend and the Club’s former captain says he will be tapping into the experience of his new-look backroom staff.

Ahead of our home game against the Hatters, Artell said: “I know what it takes to win. I have had promotions in my career and played at a good level. If you know how to win then that is 80% of what you need.

“I will then bleed knowledge from those working with me. They have great knowledge about the game. Kenny (Lunt) and (Alex Morris) are fantastic coaches. It is the same with James (Collins). They are all tactically astute and I want to lean on Neil Baker like a lamppost. When Dario is back in the building, then I would like the opportunity to tap into his knowledge as well.

“One of my great strengths is that I'm like a magpie. I like to absorb knowledge and use it. Between us all there is enough here to get it right.

David added:   If the mixture is right between us all then we can start climbing the table.”“Now we have to install that belief back into the players, because we all know they are talented and have the ability. Everyone has a part to play. The fans have a massive part to play.
