Crewe boss says he will only sign another in the window if it fits criteria
David Artell says he would like to add another leader to his dressing room after allowing Ryan Lowe to return to Bury in a player/coach role.
Artell has gone on record this week to say that he would like to add another player to his squad during the January window, but has reiterated that he only wants the right characters to enhance his dressing room.
The Crewe boss said: “I’ve spent a lot of time on the phone trying to see what is out there. We will continue to dig and do our due diligence on players because I only want the right people at this club. They have to be good characters as well as good players. We would like to get one in but it has to be the right person.
“We need to them to come in and have an impact but also to fit in easily into the dressing room here. They are a good bunch of lads and I don’t want anything to disrupt that. That is crucial for us.
“I would like a leader both on and off the pitch but that is not always easy to find, especially in the modern games. We don’t have too many of them here. We have enough but we could do with more and I would imagine a lot of managers would be saying the same thing.
“A strong leader would be great but it has to be right. That’s the challenge and we won’t be doing anything just for the sake of it.”
