David Artell says that a victory at League One side Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup could provide the catalyst for an improvement in league form. The Crewe boss admits it has been difficult to explain his side’s inconsistent form this season and we have only achieved back-to-back wins on one occasion back in August when we defeated Barnet and Port Vale to go fourth in the league.
The Crewe Alexandra boss says that there will be no greater confidence boost than another victory over a team playing in a higher league.
Ahead of Sunday clash at Ewood Park, Artell said: “Every game we play is an opportunity for us and there is no better platform than playing a club that was in the Championship last season.
“It is another chance for someone to be the hero on the day and getting through would give us greater belief.
“If we can get a result and then take that into the next game at Cheltenham then that would build momentum and when that happens it can become hard to stop.
“It is a chance to make a name for yourself and potentially go on to play a top side in the third round. I don’t think there is any greater incentive needed than that as a professional footballer.”
