Zoumana Bakayogo remains a doubt for the start of the new season. The 30-year-old left-back is struggling with a knock on his knee and has missed the last few pre-season friendlies as a result.

Manager David Artell is confident that the injury to Bakayogo is not too serious but he does face a race against time to face Steve Evans’ Mansfield side this weekend.

Artell said: “He had exactly the same this time last year.

“His knee has flared up a bit, he’s had an injection and he’ll be fine, I’m extremely confident of that.

“We’re wrapping him in cotton wool, we know what it is, we know what the reaction is going to be like. It’ll be the same, hopefully, as this time last year.”
