Boss: "It Will Be A Proud Moment"

4 August 2017

David Artell says it will be another proud moment to start the new season in charge of Crewe Alexandra. The Alex boss will be in the dugout for the first time on an opening day of the season after only succeeding Steve Davis as manager back in January.

The Crewe Alexandra boss is looking forward to hopefully bringing success back to the club after finishing 17th last season on 55 points.

Ahead of the new campaign, Artell told crewealex.net: “It will be a proud moment for me and I know I am in a privileged position. I am very thankful for the opportunity.

“I am a fan first and foremost. I am a fan of football and of Crewe and anyone who has seen me on the side-lines will know that I am just not occupying a position. I am filled with optimism and I am looking forward to the season.

“If we all stick together and get behind the lads then we can have a right go. We will know after 10 or so games if we are good enough to give it a shot. You only know where we are after 10 games because that is when the players are reaching the peak of their match fitness.

“It is up to us to show the fans and everyone that we can be a force this season.”
