Under 18's end season with high-scoring defeat
Lee Bell’s Under 18 side ended the campaign with an unfortunate 5-4 defeat at Millwall having been gunned down 4-1 by Coventry the week previous.
Crewe were 2-0 up inside the first seven minutes in the season curtain closer in London, Owen Dale firing into the corner after a quick attack & Regan Griffiths doubling the lead at the third attempt from close range after his first two shots were blocked.
Millwall pulled one back after 17 minutes before Crewe made it 3-1 just three minutes late courtesy of an own goal after Joe Thompson’s header was parried into his own defender by the goalkeeper.
It was 3-2 but the 28 minute mark however, and that was that for goal-scoring action until the 75th minute when the Lions drew level.
They then took the lead a short while later, before Dale’s penalty restored arrears to 4-4 by 84 minutes.
Millwall had the last laugh though, scoring the winner straight from the kick off as Crewe ended the season in mid-table.
