Bowyer Brings Great Experience

22 September 2016

Steve Davis says Blackpool boss performed small miracles at Blackburn.

Steve Davis believes that the new Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer will bring a wealth of experience to the League Two club after previously managing Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. Ahead of our encounter at Gresty Road this weekend, the Alex boss was full of praise for the job Bowyer achieved at Ewood Park under difficult circumstances.

The Manchester born Bowyer, 45, kept Rovers in the second tier after previously working as a Youth coach at the club.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Gary has a lot of experience in management after his time at Blackburn. He has managed in the Championship and kept the club in the league. It wasn’t easy and he was forced to sell his better players. Players like Rhodes and Gestede left the club and when you lose your strikers and goals, it becomes extremely difficult.

“You can only continue to let your best players leave for a short time because it eventually has a knock on effect when it comes to the results. I think they are seeing that there now.

“It becomes harder to survive if you cannot replace them with the same quality and ultimately it is the manager who loses his job.

“I think Gary would have learned a lot from the experience at Blackburn and I thought he did a decent job there.

Steve added: “He will bring that into the Blackpool and will try to build a successful side to have them challenging for promotion again.”
