Bogle Is One We Were Interested In

15 September 2016

Grimsby hit-man once had a trial at Crewe Alexandra.

Omar Bogle is one the country’s most in-form striker having scored seven goals in all competitions and Steve Davis says the 24-year-old is someone who previously interested Crewe when he was catching the eye with Solihull Moors.

Over three ago, Bogle came on a short trial with Crewe Alexandra but Davis and his staff felt that he was no better than what we had in attacking positions at the time. Grimsby ended up taken him for a nominal fee and the rest is history. His impressive record has seen him score 26 goals in 41 starts for the Mariners, which has included a hat-trick against Stevenage this season.

Steve explained to the club’s official web-site: “Omar has done very well and he is a player we have kept an eye on because he came in for a few days with us about three years ago. He was at Solihull then and he did okay when he was here on trial.

“You could see he had some ability. He was a good size and a good target man and had a good left-foot. We liked him but just felt that the ones we had here at the time we ahead of him. We felt that he wouldn’t go into the team at that stage of his career.

“Grimsby paid some money for him and he has come through for them and done very well. He is a very good player and we know he will pose their main threat. “
