Kiwomya Return Would Give Us 'Great Lift'

3 October 2016

Chelsea on-loan starlet returns to non-contact training.

Alex Kiwomya is continuing his rehabilitation with Crewe Alexandra after being assessed by his parent club Chelsea. The winger is recovering from the shoulder injury he sustained away at Grimsby Town, but the 20-year-old has been able to join with non-contact training this morning and the club are hopeful that he will make a full return to training next week ahead of our trip to Notts County.

Assistant manager James Collins has told the club’s official web-site that the return of Kiwomya ahead of schedule would give everyone in the club a ‘lift’. Kiwomya started the campaign in fine form, scoring four goals in League Two and being nominated for the League Two Player of the Month for August. He narrowly lost out on the award to Doncaster Rovers’ midfielder James Coppinger.

James told crewealex.net: “Alex is now back here and working with us. He will join in non-contact training today and hopefully he will be able to train with the players the following week.

“Luton will come too soon for him but the week after could be a possibility. We’ll have to see how it goes.

“He would be ahead of schedule and back sooner than we first expected. Touchwood he comes through the next two weeks ok because having him back would be a great lift for everyone.”
