Daggers: "Dan Will Learn Through Experience"

5 October 2016

Dagnall says himself and Lowe have plenty of time for young striker Udoh.

Striker Chris Dagnall has backed youngster Daniel Udoh to go on and realise his potential after missing a good chance late on against Mansfield on Saturday. Udoh seemed to be clipped twice as he raced on to a long ball from Zoumana Bakayogo, but he rode the challenge to stay on his feet, but his shot hit the side netting instead of the back of the net.

Dagnall admits that the former Ilkeston man was entitled to go down and with greater experience would have probably claimed the penalty instead of trying to finish the chance himself.

Daggers told us: “Dan is a good lad and I said to him after the game that he had seen the bright lights a bit there. He was clipped twice and was entitled to go down there but he had a free shot at goal and went for it.

“With a bit more experience he would probably have gone down but he wants to score goals himself and do well so you cannot blame him for trying to score.

Chris added: “He has got great potential Dan and he wants to learn and get better. He is always working hard with me and Lowey and asking questions and we have a lot of time for the kid. We want to help him and I am sure he will come through and get some goals for the team.”
