Davis: "We Want Players Who Make A Difference"

6 May 2016

Steve Davis says he has made contact with a number of players who could make a difference to his XI.

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he has contacted a number of players in regards to next season but he admits that he just has to be patient as players will continue to keep their options open.

Steve has admitted that he has declared his interest in the Bury striker Ryan Lowe, who will become a free agent this summer.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I’ve spoken to a number of players and their agents in regards to next season. The ground work has been on-going for some time and you have to hope that it pays off in pre-season.

“I’ve declared an interest in some players and Ryan (Lowe) is one of them. You just have to wait and see what happens because a player will rarely commit their futures early.

“Unless they determined to come or the money is there then they will take their time. We are not in a position to offer huge amounts of money, so they will just come in and sign straight away. We have to be patient and wait. We are mindful of that and we have to live with it.

He added: “We know the type of players we want to bring into the Football Club and we will work hard to do that. We don’t want squad players, we are after the players that will come in and make a significant difference to the team.”
