Chairman: "Budget Will Be Similar To This Season"

9 May 2016

John Bowler says scope in the playing budget to bring in three or four experienced players.

Chairman John Bowler says that the club will not be cutting back too dramatically on this season’s playing budget to give us the best chance of bouncing back from relegation.

At the recent fans forum, the Club Chairman dismissed speculation that Steve Davis would be working with at least 20% less than last season - but that is not the case with Bowler stating that the budget will be similar to our last one in League One.

The Chairman said at the recent fans forum: “We are close to finalising our budget and there will be no dramatic cutting back from us. We will put everything we can sensibly do into the playing budget, while not jeopardising the future of the club.

He added: “We will not be reducing the budget by 20% and there will be scope for Steve to bring in the three, possibly four more experienced players that we need to make us as competitive as we can be in League Two next season.”
