Davis admits others on his list after target moves to League One club.
Steve Davis has revealed that one of his midfield targets has signed for a League One club. The Crewe Alexandra boss admits that the young player he approached and spoke to had great potential but with a guarantee of playing regularly at League One level, the player has decided to move elsewhere.
Although understandably disappointed to lose out on the transfer target, Davis says he will quickly move on to others on his list.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We lost out on a midfield player. He has signed for a League One club and that happens. It wasn’t as much a financial decision with this one, more the fact that he has been promised game time in League One.
“He will move on and move on quickly. Adding another midfield player is important to us because we only have Jonah (James Jones) and Billy Bingham at the moment. Callum Ainley and Ryan Wintle are still young and inexperienced, so we want another one in there.
“We need someone who has played some games and knows the role. We will try and get the best player we possibly can. We have a list and there are other options.”
