Ben Garratt believes the Alex dressing room is ready to bounce back after a disappointing Christmas
Goalkeeper Ben Garratt is confident that the Railwaymen can get our 5-0 defeat to Coventry City out of our system with a good performance and result at Swindon this weekend. The Alex had a free weekend due to Bury’s involvement in the FA Cup and Garratt admits that the break has allowed the players and staff to regroup in the wake of our heaviest defeat of the season.
Garratt, who has once again been one of our most consistent performers this season, says there is enough ability and belief in the Alex squad to move out of the bottom four for a third consecutive season.
Ben told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “Everyone here believes we can get out of trouble. We’ve been here before and we’ve come out of it, so we’re certainly very confident that we can do that.
“It’s not been ideal from my point of view recently with a lot of top class goals going in, but that happens in football sometimes. I’m doing all I can and the team is doing all it can to stop that happening.
“We believe we’re capable of cracking it. We wouldn’t be here otherwise and we wouldn’t be professionals if we weren’t capable of doing that. Whoever comes into the team and steps up to the plate I’m sure will do the job.
“There’s still plenty of points to play for and we need to try and get them on the board as soon as we can and we’re all confident we can do that.
“Swindon have produced some good results recently, but like everyone in this league, they are capable of beating anyone on their day and that’s ourselves included. It’s our challenge to go over there and get three points.
Ben added: “We don’t want any signs of recent weeks playing on our minds, we’ll go there with a positive mind-set and looking to get the win.”
