Davis: "We Both Need The Three Points"

26 January 2016

Steve previews tonight's Bury encounter.

Steve Davis believes that Bury could still be involved in the race for a play-off spot but he will be hoping they won’t be getting three important points this evening. The Alex will move off the bottom of the table with a point but Davis and his players are targeting all three after a promising show against promotion chasing Wigan on Saturday.

in the table and seven points behind sixth placed Millwall. thBury also secured a hard fought 1-0 win over Oldham at the weekend, which ended a run of four straight defeats in League One. The Shakers are currently 13

Ahead of this evening’s game at Gigg Lane, Steve told us: “Bury started the season well and took their momentum from winning promotion into this division. They looked like they were going to be genuine contenders for the top six, especially with the budget they have had.

“They recently suffered four defeats in a row but they bounced back well to get a good result against Oldham on Saturday. That hard fought win will give them confidence going into our game but we also played well against a good Wigan side, so it should be a good game.

“We both need the three points for different reasons. It would give us a boost to get off the bottom and hopefully close the gap on those above us.

The boss added: “If Bury can win then that would put them in a good position to challenge that top six again, so it should be a good contest. They usually are good games. It is fairly local for our fans and everyone is looking forward to the game.”
