Wilson Is Well Equipped To See Chesterfield Safe

19 February 2016

Steve Davis has nothing but respect for his former boss Danny Wilson.

Steve Davis says he is looking forward to locking horns again with his former manager Danny Wilson at the bottom of League One.

Davis played under the vastly experienced Wilson at Barnsley, winning promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history in 1997. Steve sadly suffered a serious injury and was never able to play in the top flight.

Now Wilson is managing Chesterfield after succeeding Dean Saunders during the festive period.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash at the Proact Stadium, Steve told crewealex.net: “I played under Danny at Barnsley and we won promotion to the Premier League together. He is someone I have always liked and had enormous respect for and I am looking forward to meeting up with him tomorrow.

“I always try and catch up when we have LMA meetings and things like that. He is such an experienced manager. He has managed for over 1,000 games and there is only a select number of managers who have done that, especially in the modern era.

“He has been there and done it. He has won promotions and experienced relegations. He has managed in the top flight with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday and he is well equipped to get Chesterfield out of danger.”
