U18: Barnsley 1-3 Crewe

1 December 2016

Lunt's lads make it back-to-back 3-1 victories

Crewe Alexandra Under 18's made it two wins on the spin to move up to second, just behind FA Youth Cup conquerors Sheffield United, in the U18 PDL2 table.

Harry Pickering, Owen Dale and substitute Luke Walsh scored the goals to secure the 3-1 victory at Barnsley.

Crewe took the lead in the first half, Pickering steering a first time effort into the net from a low left-wing cross, but the Tykes levelled for 1-1 before the break - the unfortunate Luke Offord seeing the ball bounce off his thigh & looping into the net for an own goal.

After an even first half, the Alex gained control after the break & went ahead through Dale, who cleared a defensive corner at one end, before re-joining the counter-attack up-field & sweeping his first time effort underneath the goalkeeper from the edge of the area.

Sub Walsh made sure of the points when he cut in from the right-hand-side & fired his shot into the far corner.

Crewe: Wardley, Sass-Davies, Wilkinson, Offord, Griffiths (Walsh), Woodcock, Lynch (Harrison), Lundstram, Dale, Pickering, Reilly (Thompson)
