Boss: "Performance Has To Be Springboard"

29 December 2016

Steve Davis strives after consistent peformances after hitting level against Carlisle.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he hopes his side can build on the performance we produced against Carlisle United on Boxing Day.

The Railwaymen produced one of their best performances of the season to collect a point against the club currently second in League Two, but the dressing room was left slightly down after not getting the win we probably deserved on the day.

The Alex boss is now hoping to continue that form against Accrington Stanley on New Year’s Eve at Gresty Road.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I thought it’s the best we have played against Carlisle. I thought they were terrific throughout and didn’t get our rewards. It was a really good performance, especially when you consider the bad run we have been in as well.

“We create good chances, put crosses into the box ad had some great moments of football as well. I was pleased with them and we just didn’t have that little bit of luck where something was going to drop for us.

“They were disappointed not to have won the game. I think they realise that if we can hit a consistent performance then we can compete with the best teams in the league. They now have to take that into the next game against Accrington and use it as a springboard for us.”
