Jones: "Underdog Tag Will Suit Us"

James Jones looking forward to another challenge at Bramall Lane.

Midfielder James Jones says that Crewe Alexandra have ‘nothing to lose’ when we take on Sheffield United in the first round of the EFL Cup this evening. Academy graduate Jones believes that all the pressure will be placed on the League One side in front of their Bramall Lane crowd.

Jones told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “We are not under great pressure, we have nothing to lose. We go there as underdogs but we know that if we can perform like we can then we can cause an upset.

“There won’t be too many expecting too much from us, but we have won at the weekend and the confidence is high.

“Most of us have played at Bramall Lane before, in front of their crowd. It is a great stadium to play at and it should be a decent crowd.

“As a footballer, you want to be playing at the bigger stadiums, in front of big crowds That is what we want. We know it will be a test but it is one we are looking forward to.

On forming a new midfield partnership alongside Billy Bingham, Jonah told us: “It is great to play alongside Billy. He is very experienced and a good player. He talks to you and helps you through it.

“We know that the manager is looking for another midfield player to strengthen us, but we have the shirt at the moment, so we know that if we play well then we will stay in the team.”
