Callum Has To Keep On Getting In There

25 April 2016

Boss says Saunders showing all the signs of being a goalscorer with this runs.

teve Davis has backed his young striker Callum Saunders to keep getting in behind defences. After scoring a dramatic late equaliser against Colchester United last Tuesday evening, Saunders was handed a start at Oldham Athletic at the weekend and was only denied the opening goal when the inspired Joel Coleman blocked his shot in a one-v-one situation.S

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “Callum has a knack of getting in behind. He times his runs and he keeps getting in there.

“That is the sign of a goalscorer and he anticipates things well. He read the situation on Saturday and got in and he looked to have done everything right, but the goalkeeper rushed out quickly and made the block with his foot. I thought it was a decent save.

“Callum has to keep on making those runs and getting in there and he knows that he has to finish more of them and improve his ratio.”
