James Jones delighted to sign a new contract with the club

James Jones has told Crewe Alex PlayerHD of his delight in signing a new contract with the Football Club. The teenage midfielder, who won the club’s Breakthrough Player-of-the-Year award last season has signed a new and improved two-year deal with an option for a further year.

The Winsford-born youngster is determined to come back stronger from his shoulder injury and play a key role in helping Crewe move up the League One table. After meeting the surgeon last week, he has targeted a return to playing for the Development Squad in four weeks’ time.

After penning his new deal with the club to take him through to at least the summer of 2017, Jonah said: “I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club because this is where I want to be. Crewe is the ideal place to learn the game and develop.

“I am grateful to the manager, the staff and the board for giving me a new contract and now all I want to do is get fit and get back playing again. I am very happy to have committed my future here for a few more years and I want to push on and improve as a player.

“It has been frustrating to miss the start of the season, especially when we got Port Vale on the first game of the season because they are the type of games you want to play in. It is a rare for any player to go through their career without being injured though, so it is just something you have to accept and get on with.

James added: “Hopefully, I can come back and become a stronger and better player. I want to improve on the number of goals I score and become more adventurous with my passing as well.”
