LDV: "It Was An Instinctive Finish"

12 October 2015

Lauri delighted that his clever finish resulted in three points at Oakwell.

The club’s Finnish striker, Lauri Dalla Valle, says instinct took over when it came to deflecting Adam King’s cross home with his chest at Oakwell.

His goalscoring instinct paid dividends with his near post touch generating enough power to take the Barnsley goalkeeper Nick Townsend completely by surprise. It sealed a memorable win for the Railwaymen at Oakwell and LDV was delighted that his second goal of the season meant three points for the club.

Dalla Valle told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “It was an instinctive goal. When the ball went wide I just tried to get into the box and in front of my man. I then tried to get a positive touch on it and guide it towards the goal.

“It was a nice height to use my chest, so I used that and it has gone in off the goalkeeper. I was just made up to score the goal that meant three points for the club and the lads.

“We had worked really hard in the game. We had a game plan and were well prepared and we stuck at it and we got our reward for doing that.

“It was a brilliant day for us because we got the three points and that gives us confidence. We were happy that the hard work paid off and we never let our heads drop. It was a good win and the dressing room was happy afterwards.

“Now it gives us something to build on again.”
