Jimmy Has Made A Great Start

Davis says Burton boss Hasslebaink has the perfect place to learn his trade.

Steve Davis says that Burton Albion is a good club to work for when starting out in a managerial career. The likes of Nigel Clough and Gary Rowett have both gone on to manage at a higher level after learning their trade with the Brewers.

Now the former Chelsea, Leeds and Holland striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been handed the opportunity to cut his teeth at the Pirelli Stadium.

Hasselbaink, 43, has made an impressive start to his coaching career, winning promotion from League Two in his first season and he has guided the Brewers to third place at this level.

Ahead of our first trip to Burton in four years, Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Jimmy waited patiently for his opportunity. He applied for a few jobs and was interviewed for a few and getting the position at Burton is an ideal place to start.

“It is a good club, a sound club with a lot of stability. Their Chairman has been there for a long time and Jimmy has grabbed that chance with both hands.

“He got them up in his first season and they have carried that momentum on.

He added: “It is very important to have that stability at a club and Jimmy works for a good chairman. It is the same with me here; you need that strong bond and relationship. It makes a difference to have that support and trust in place.”
