Dack Not The Only Gills Threat

16 October 2015

Steve Davis is an admirer of young Bradley Dack but he says that Gills have more threats in their team.

Steve Davis has hailed Gillingham’s Bradley Dack as an ‘exciting young player’. Dack, 21, has scored seven goals in 15 games so far this season and he is beginning to emerge as one of the major young talents in League One.

Davis knows that the Alex defence will have to watch Dack closely but admits that he is not the only goal threat in Justin Edinburgh’s in-form side. The Gills are currently third in League One after making a terrific start to their campaign.

Ahead of this weekend’s encounter at Gresty Road, Steve said: “Gillingham have a system that has proved to be successful for them. We played a similar way at times last season and it was successful for us as well. We had some good results playing that way.

“Gillingham have made a good start to the season and have had some great results playing with the three centre-halves and wing-backs. They have some very good players and they can mix it up and play direct if they need to. They are also a threat at set-plays.

“The defence is usually solid and they have a goal threat throughout the team. They play with wing-backs and they like to get forward and offer something in the final third.

“Dack is a good young player, who can play off the front or come from a little deeper. He is an exciting player to watch and is a danger to any opposition but he is not the only threat in their team.

He added: “We are looking forward to the challenge and with our system and the way we want to play, we think we can cause them some problems as well.”
