Boss boosted by returning players

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his injured players are all progressing well but he wishes he could have a full complement of players to choose from. It is something he has not managed to do over the last couple of seasons but our injury concerns have eased of late with the likes of midfielders Billy Bingham and James returning to fitness.

Striker Lauri Dalle Valle also got minutes under his belt for the Under-21s against Bolton Wanderers yesterday and full-back Stephen Kingsley returned to first team action as a substitute after overcoming a recent foot injury.

At the moment, the Alex boss is still without club captain Harry Davis (knee), vice-captain David Fox and goalkeeper David Richards (foot).

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is good to have players coming back and that has given us a boost. It is encouraging. Harry is progressing well and it is good news with Foxy because he shouldn’t be out for as long as we thought.

“It is getting there and injuries are part and parcel of football but it would be nice to have a couple of months where we have everyone available to choose from.

He added: “It would be nice to have that luxury and I think if we could do that then we could a match for the teams in this league. I think we showed signs of that against on Saturday against Sheffield United.”
