Steve Davis says players have shown level to reach.

Steve Davis says his Crewe Alexandra side have to replicate Saturday’s performance against Sheffield United as much as possible if we are to move away from the danger zone.

Crewe recorded their first home win of the season with a deserved 1-0 win over the Blades with Ryan Colclough once again providing the winner.

Davis believes that the result and performance will only build confidence and belief within the Crewe dressing room.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It was an excellent three points for us because I thought we got the reward for our performance. We were good both in and out of possession and the tempo was good throughout. They all put a great shift in and all the supporters saw the effort they had to put in against a strong side.

“It was a good all-round performance and it was good to see some of the defensive things we have been working on as a team pay off. The balance was good and now it is up to them to replicate that level of performance each week.

“It was nice to get that first home win and get that monkey off our backs if you like, but I think we have played reasonably well at home and it dropped for us on Saturday for once and Ryan Colclough finished his chance clinically.”
