Davis says players will be in most days when pre-season kicks off.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says there won’t be many days off for his players once they return full-time for pre-season training. The Alex players will be kept ticking over with gym and conditioning sessions at the club’s Reaseheath Training complex before they return to full pre-season training in June.

Steve Davis, who is looking to improve all aspects of his training regime, says that his players will working most days when they return this summer.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The players will be working most days once they return to pre-season training. There won’t be that many days off for them.

“Even when they are having a recovery day and need to have some rest, we can look to do some tactical work in the classroom. We will do gym and core sessions and we will keep them off their legs when we need to.

“We will prepare and lay the foundations over the 6-8 weeks to make sure they are ready for the new season. We had a few players who missed pre-season last year and they were playing catch up a bit.”
