Uche: "I Thrive On Fans Support"

17 March 2015

Ikpeazu says it drives him on to hear the fans chanting his name followign his return on loan

Uche Ikpeazu says he thrives on the loyal support the Crewe Alexandra supporters give him. The Watford youngster has established himself as a real crowd favourite during his three spells at the club and the Alex faithful were quick to sing his name at Deepdale on Saturday, even when he was sat on the substitutes’ bench in the first half.

Ikepazu was quick to return ‘home’ on loan when his game time at Doncaster dried up and he is eager to repay the faith the manager, the staff and fans have shown him.

Ahead of this evening’s clash at Ashton Gate, Uche said: “It is just great to be back at Crewe and I am just looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“When I knew Crewe were back interested in me I jumped at the chance to come back. I was happy here prior to me moving to Doncaster and I am happy now. It is great when the manager, the staff, my team-mates and the fans have faith in me.

“I don’t feel the pressure of being a favourite with the supporters. I thrive on it and it just makes me want to do even more for them. It drives me on to win for them and the team. No-one puts any more pressure on myself than me.

“When the fans sing my name or chant that just makes me try harder and I just want to do well for them. I am determined to keep my head down and stay humble.

He added: “It is just great to have the respect of everyone here because I have respect for them and I want Crewe to be successful and win games.”
