Boss says he would love to work with Jamie Ness again next season

Steve Davis admits that he would like to entice Jamie Ness back to Crewe Alexandra for next season. Ness has certainly grown to be one of our most influential players this season and has scored two goals from his 25 appearances so far this season. He has one year left on his contract at Stoke City, so Crewe would have seek permission again from our near neighbours.

With his game time limited at his parent club Stoke City, the former Glasgow Rangers starlet needed to improve his match fitness when he first came to Crewe, but his improved form has been a major factor in seeing the Railwaymen move out of the bottom four.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Jamie has done really well and he has become the influential player we thought he would be. There were those who didn’t think he would and it is nice to see him prove them wrong with his performances.

“He has shown what he is capable of as a creative midfield player and he has become a key player for us.

“He struggled at the beginning of the season because he wasn’t match fit but we stuck with him and he has worked hard to get that fitness back and has done extra to top himself up as well.

“He has come good for us and of course, he is a player we would like to have here. He is the type of player we would look for to improve us. He needs to play football and we have given him the chance to do that.

He added: “Jamie is the perfect fit, everything we would look for in a creative player. I think with the midfield three we have at the moment with Granty and young James Jones, it is one of our most creative midfields we have had for a while.”
