Marcus returns to training after Gold Cup exploits
Crewe Alexandra striker Marcus Haber has today returned to training after missing the start of pre-season to play for the Canadian Nation side in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Maple Leafs were eliminated at the group stage of the competition last week, meaning Marcus returned to the UK over the weekend ready to return to full Alex training today.
Haber twice came off the bench for Canada in their first two group games in a 0-0 draw with El Salvador and 1-0 defeat Jamaica before playing 90 minutes against Costa Rica in a 0-0 draw, where he had a second half goal ruled out for offside that would’ve taken his country through.
Steve Davis is confident his target man will have returned in good shape after rigorous training and game time with his national side and hopes he can bring the experience to help The Alex have a good start to the season.
Steve told crewealex.net: “I spoke to Marcus a few days ago to see how he was and he got through that tournament ok and played a full game and a few substitute games so he’ll be in match condition.
“He’ll be in much better shape than he was last pre-season because he didn’t have one. We’re getting a player back that should be in good shape but we’ll assess him and we’ll take it from there.”
