Steve Davis wary of MK Dons' danger throughout their impressive group

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is a keen admirer of the MK Dons and their style of play but he is hoping that the club’s fine record against them at Gresty Road can continue. Crewe have never lost to the MK Dons at the Alexandra Stadium, having won three and drawing one of our four previous meetings.

On the flip side we have never won at Stadium:mk either with our best result a 2-2 draw back in March 2009 under Gudjon Thordarson.

Having seen his Crewe side beaten 6-1 earlier in the season, Steve Davis is certainly wary of the threat posed by Karl Robinson’s side.

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “MK Dons have some really good players and Karl has worked hard to assemble a strong group. They have many options and we know it will be a tough game. They are all tough in this league but I would put MK Dons right up there. I think they are in the top three teams in the division.

“I’m sure they will be there or thereabouts this time when it comes to the automatic promotion places.

“Dele Alli scored a hat-trick in the previous game and he was excellent. I am sure he will eventually go on and play at the top level. He is a top, top, player and I am sure he could join any Premier League club at a young age and develop into a really good player at that level.

The boss added: “He is currently way above this level and I am sure he is destined for great things in the future. Our tactics will have him in mind because he is such an influential player. A lot revolves around him and we will try and keep him as quiet as possible, but he is not the only one. They are all comfortable in possession and they are a good side.”
