Steve delight in his players response since the MK Dons defeat

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site of his delight in seeing his side respond in superb fashion following the recent 5-0 defeat to the MK Dons. That result seems to have been just a minor blip in what has been a tremendous run of form from the Railwaymen.

The Alex’s form continued with back-to-back wins over fellow strugglers Colchester and Yeovil. A winning goal from Nicky Ajose proved to be the difference against the Glovers last night and Davis has been pleased with such a positive response from his players.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “It is important that we were have been able to follow on from one good result and get another three points. It was an important game for us because it was another one against a team that is down there with us and our record has not been good in games like that in recent times.

“I am delighted with the way the players have responded. We have certainly turned the corner and they have given us a chance. They have done terrifically well because it is never easy winning games when you are down in the bottom four. The pressure is on.

“You have to win one or two to get out of it and another one to stay out of it.

“I was delighted with the lads because it was a battle. We knew it could be that type of game and as a spectacle it wasn’t always free, flowing football but I thought we put some good passages of play together and we played the better football on the night.

He added: “It was all about what might happen in both boxes and I was pleased with the clean-sheets. It could have been a bit easier for us if we had taken one or two more of the chances but I am delighted with the six points from our last two games.”
